Clinical Effects of Permixon^(¢ç) on Chronic Prostatitis

Abstract
Chronic prostatitis -bacterial and nonbacterial-has many protean symptoms such as bladder irritative and obstructive symptoms. It is not easy to find out what causes the disease.
It is customary for doctors to use antibiotics to eradicate the etiologic agents and analgesics or receptor blockers to relieve the prostatic symptoms.
Permixon¢ç, a lipidosterolic extract of some plant, has been reported to reveal antiandrogenic activity and improve the prostatic symptoms.
By the investigation of the effects of Permixon¢ç in chronic prostatitis, following results could be obtained.
Permixon¢ç relieved the prostatic symptoms of frequency, dysuria, hesitancy, tenesr-ius and other symptoms in 72.7% of drug-group and 30.7% of placebo-group.
No abnormality was found by blood chemistry, CBC, etc in drug treated patients.
But mild side effects, such as gastrointestinal distress and one case of poor penile erection were observed.
